Although the hotel has only begun its sustainability journey, Holiday Inn & Suites Cairo Maadi is already working hard on its environmental, socioeconomic, cultural heritage, and environmental projects.
Gaïa Riverlodge: Where Nature is a Fundamental Part of Sustainability Plan
Overlooking the magnificent Five-Sisters Waterfalls in Belize’s secluded Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, Gaïa Riverlodge is one of the country’s most recognized ecotourist destinations. Recently recertified by Green Globe, Gaïa Riverlodge has been focussing on energy conservation strategies that utilize natural resources. The resort has committed to the procurement of a solar system as an additional alternative source of energy to meet power needs. Currently, Gaïa Riverlodge produces 75% of its electrical energy consumption from its own hydro- electric generating system installed on Privassion Creek.

Vedettes de Paris: Ready to Launch New Electric Fleet
Green Globe recently awarded Vedettes de Paris its inaugural certification. With origins dating back to the 19th century, Vedettes de Paris is an independent, family run company that has been an iconic Seine cruise company since 1976. To significantly reduce emissions whilst improving the quality of its services, Vedettes de Paris has begun retrofitting its fleet. The PARIS Trocadéro, was the first boat to be electrified at the end of 2023. Two other boats are in the process of being electrified and due to go into service in Spring 2024.
Mövenpick Hotel Hamburg: Fostering Environmental Consciousness
The main building of Mövenpick Hotel Hamburg was originally a former water tower, constructed in 1910. The building was completely renovated in 2007 and converted into a 16-story hotel. Staff are particularly proud of the cultural heritage significance of the hotel and take great care to nurture and preserve the historic site.

A Greener, Cleaner Future at Crowne Plaza Berlin City Centre Ku'damm
Energy efficiency strategies include the adoption of LED lighting, installation of energy saving equipment throughout the hotel and back of house areas, and utilization of district heating and heat recovery systems. Through investments made in LED lights in recent years, the hotel saved 39 tons of CO2.

Sans Souci Vienna Hotel: Carbon Emission Calculations Lead to Significant Reduction
First certified in 2017, many sustainable measures have been implemented over the years. An important step has been the calculation of carbon emissions. The calculations are based on the guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol). The result of the emissions calculation for business activities at Sans Souci Vienna Hotel per overnight stay was 32.85kg CO2 per room per night in 2021 and 21.37kg CO2 per room per night in 2022. According to the hotel’s most recent Sustainability Report, a reduction in CO2 emissions of 35% was achieved in 2022.

Abadía Retuerta is a five-star hotel and winery in Spain’s Duero Valley, less than two hours from Madrid, located in the grounds of a 12th-century monastery. The project’s origins are in winemaking, but it has now become so much more, driven by an ongoing passion to create unique and memorable experiences around wine, gastronomy, nature, art and wellness. The estate spans 1,700 acres of land, and the monastery’s 86,000 ft2
include spaces full of history and 30 luxurious hotel rooms.
A Holistic Approach to Sustainability at Pullman Bali Legian Beach
Pullman Bali Legian Beach has achieved an impressive compliance score of 94% based on its environmental sustainability performance and commitment to best practices. The resort’s holistic approach to sustainability emphasizes the importance of community involvement and environmental stewardship.
Pullman Bali Legian Beach is committed to embracing local culture and building a strong connection with its diverse community. Located within the hotel premises, a Balinese and Hindu temple is open for local residents to use as a place of daily worship. Furthermore, the Trigona Bee Conservation Program has been established in the hotel gardens next to the temple. Bees will be able to collect nectar from flowers across the entire property contributing to biodiversity on the island, and guests will be able to visit the bee sanctuary to learn more about honey production.

Green Globe recently recertified Barceló Huatulco in Mexico. Barceló Huatulco is a 5-star beachfront hotel situated in Tangolunda Bay, one of nine bays in Huatulco. Rooms are located just a few yards from the sea with stunning views of the bay or the spectacular hotel gardens.
First certified by Green Globe in 2020, Barceló Huatulco remains committed to its established green goals. Green Globe recently awarded Raffles The Palm Dubai its inaugural certification. Last year was a particularly significant year with the UAE announcing 2023 as The Year of Sustainability.
