Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta: Sustainability from Rainforest to Sea

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is located in a special location on the Pacific Ocean's Bahía de Banderas in the Mexican state of Jalisco. The resort sits between the sandy beach of Playa las Estacas and rainforest mountains with an impressive diversity of nature and birdlife. During the wet season, rainwater from the mountains forms a river crossing the length of the resort.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta has been a certified Green Globe member since 2018 and during its independent audit in March this year, achieved a noteworthy 94% of the sustainability criteria.

Fernando Cardoso, General Manager of Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta says, "Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is totally committed to sustainability. Besides standing out as a leading hotel in the tourism industry of Puerto Vallarta, the management and staff of Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta actively contribute in many positives ways to conservation of the culture and environment of our wonderful surroundings."

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta’s beautiful location inspires the resort team to deliver excellence in service to all guests, and at the same time remain committed to the protection of the environment and wellbeing of their community. Various projects and activities are undertaken as part of Green Globe certification, and combined make great contribution to supporting people, prosperity, and the planet.

For the local community, Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta continues its collaboration with the charitable association Pasitos de Luz, a non-government association that helps children with different disabilities and limited resources. The goal of the association is to provide care and treatment to maximize these children’s’ potential.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is the proud administrator of Las Estacas sea turtle camp, dedicated to protecting and releasing turtle hatchlings. Each year an average of 28,000 sea turtle hatchlings are released, and when conditions permit, guests participate in the release to help raise greater awareness.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta also supports Canopy River, winners of the Skal International Sustainable Tourism Awards 2021 in the community and government projects category. To date, 950 trees have been planted and this year Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta’s goal is to plant 1,200 more seedlings to boost the recovery of the tropical forest.
