Hotel Plesnik, Slovenia Reduces Waste

Hotel Plesnik’s sustainability plan includes environmental, socio-cultural, quality, health and safety considerations, which togehter govern the hotel’s performance. In the last three years the amount of garbage generated per person has been reduced from 7.47 kg to 6.3 kg per person per day. This 16% reduction is a significant achievement. Key to this success has been the exclusion of items that have non-returnable packaging. Many of these items have been replaced with home-made products including, elder flower syrup, raspberry syrup, ice tea, sage & lemon liqueur, and pate for breakfast. A BVT machine for water filtration and sparkling water has also been ordered to begin replacing bottled water.
