Recycling Initiatives at Valsana Hotel Arosa Benefit Families and Canine Friends
Green Globe member Valsana Hotel Arosa is located in the untouched landscape of the mountain of Graubunden. The lakeside hotel borders the Arosa forest and is surrounded by panoramic Swiss alpine scenery.
First certified by Green Globe in 2020, the hotel has been busy pursuing a multitude of recycling programs that benefit the environment, families living in poverty in the community and even canine companions visiting with guests.
Swiss Red Cross Recycling Program
Valsana Arosa Hotel proudly supports the Every Toner Counts recycling campaign run by the Red Cross. Used toner and print cartridges are collected by the Pelikan company and checked, prepared and processed at its recycling centre. For each toner collected, Pelikan makes a financial donation to the Swiss Red Cross. Funds raised assist families in Switzerland affected by poverty.
Dog Stays at Valsana
A warm welcome is extended to all four-legged friends who stay with their owners at the hotel. Launched in April this year, the hotel has placed its own Robidog bins around the hotel grounds for the convenience of guests taking their daily walk with pets. Recyclable poop bags are also available at the bins. Dogs are welcome on a lead in public areas, the lobby, the sun terrace, Twist Restaurant and Twist Lounge at any time. Furthermore, dog treats are homemade in the hotel’s kitchen so there is no shortage of tasty snacks at Valsana.
Recycling Candles, Corks and Bottles
Circular economic principles are carefully considered at Valsana Arosa Hotel in efforts to reduce overall waste volume. The hotel has partnered with the Lienert company to recycle candles while bottle corks are also collected and recycled. Hotel staff have been busy creating recycled glass vases from wine bottles at the property which are used to display fresh seasonal flowers in guest rooms.
