Green Globe Certification Accepted by Travalyst
Green Globe Certification announces its successful acceptance by Travalyst, which recognises certifications for tourism accommodation.
Travalyst works pre-competitively to bring sustainability information to the mainstream and help people make more informed travel choices, while enabling industry alignment behind accommodation sustainability certifications. This initiative represents the first step in a broader, ongoing effort to improve the sustainability governance of certifications for the accommodation sector.
Green Globe Certification CEO, Birte Pelayo says, “Green Globe Certification has been at the forefront of sustainable tourism certification for over two decades and our certification standards and criteria are the basis on which Travalyst has been able to bring together certification labels to meet the highest requirements of the industry and travelling public.”
“We commend the work of Travalyst as it collaborates with certifiers and global travel distributors, so the choices travellers make in the future will be the best for planet, people and prosperity.” added CEO Pelayo.
Founded in 2019 by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, Travalyst is a not-for-profit coalition of some of the biggest brands in travel and technology including Amadeus, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, Mastercard, Sabre, Skyscanner, Travelport, Trip.com Group and Visa.
Travalyst’s certifications initiative is free and open to all sustainability certifications for accommodation providers globally. The initial list of certifications compliant with the Travalyst criteria is publicly available for Travalyst’s partners, and the wider industry, to use.
