Urban Sophistication and Natural Beauty at The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery

The Silveri Hong Kong - MGallery is thrilled to announce a significant milestone in its journey towards sustainability by achieving Green Globe certification for the first time. This prestigious certification reflects the property’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement and sustainable hospitality. Opened in 2022, the 206 room and suite Eco-chic urban resort is the luxury flagship for The MGallery Hotel Collection in Hong Kong that offers a beautiful balance of urban sophistication with natural beauty.

"Aligning with Accor's commitment, The Silveri Hong Kong - MGallery strives to be at the forefront of sustainable transformation with people and nature, as the heart of hospitality itself. We are adapting two brand pillars: 'Memorable and Meaningful' in a more sustainable way to continue our journey towards a greener future. This acknowledgement by Green Globe is a result of the dedicated efforts of our team in making a positive impact on the environment and our community," said John Webb, Regional Vice President – Hong Kong & Macau.

Engaging staff and community in sustainability Initiatives
The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability through the active engagement of its staff. The hotel's workforce, guided by leadership figures such as department heads and managers, plays a critical role in communicating environmental policies, organizing community activities and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among staff members.

For example, this year the hotel participated in Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its Pink October initiative that was run in collaboration with a local NGO. Throughout the month, staff sported pink ribbons on their uniforms and hosted a variety of pink-themed activities aimed at raising awareness and promoting breast health. Guests staying at MGallery contributed to the cause by making a room booking donation or taking part in a limited edition pink icon charity sale. Other highlights included a pink welcome drink, pink cocktail, in-room video podcasts and a health talk on preventing breast cancer.

Eco-friendly interior design and measures
Thoughtfully designed to be stylishly sustainable, the hotel has achieved a BEAM Plus Gold rating by Hong Kong Green Building Council with over 20% greenery coverage on the primary zone. Sustainable initiatives have also been implemented throughout hotel operations to reduce ecological impacts. The hotel integrates advanced technology to support environmentally responsible practices, particularly in its conference and meeting rooms. The use of Samsung Flip, a portable, digital flipchart provides an ecofriendly solution for brainstorming, presentations, and workshops while minimizing the use of paper and other disposable materials.

In addition, the Green Team have introduced various measures to conserve water and energy such as the installation of energy-efficient equipment and water-saving devices, and regular monitoring of resource usage. This commitment has resulted in a significant reduction of natural gas by 139% and water saving by 32% compared to last year.

Local Cultural Experiences - Culinary Offerings and Nature Tour
The hotel places great emphasis on promoting local culture by incorporating local ingredients in its culinary offerings. This includes sourcing traditional products such as Tai O shrimp paste and XO sauce from local producers. These ingredients are used in signature dishes such as Line Caught Seabass with Tai O XO Sauce, offering guests an authentic taste of the region while supporting local businesses and reducing the environmental impact of food transportation.

The Fresh outlet at the hotel features locally sourced condiments from Tai O Village, allowing guests to experience the flavors of Hong Kong while promoting sustainable food practices. This not only supports local artisans but also strengthens the hotel’s connection to the surrounding community.

To promote natural beauty and local heritage surrounding the hotel, the hotel has teamed up with a local hiking tour partner to arrange a guided 5-hour hiking tour for hotel guests. The personalized tours lead guests to Hong Kong’s second-highest peak for the breathtaking sunrise views, huge wood carvings on The Wisdom Path and the iconic Big Buddha.
