Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna: Inclusive Experiences for People with Disabilities

Green Globe recently recertified Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna in Egypt. Currently, the resort holds Gold status marking five years of continuous certification and is working towards Platinum status. Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna is situated on a peninsula, with its own exclusive beachfront that offers spectacular views of the Red Sea, tranquil lagoons and lush gardens. The resort is considered a pioneer hotel for sustainability on the Red Sea. With its recent achievements in sustainability and commitment to providing exceptional experiences for all guests, the resort is setting standards in eco-friendly hospitality.

Zero Plastic Target
In line with the property’s zero plastic target, a milestone in the elimination of all single-use plastics has been the replacement of plastic water bottles with reusable glass bottles. The resort has established its own water filtration system utilizing German filter technology by BRITA, one of the world’s leading companies specialising in drinking water treatment systems. Following the approval of the Egyptian National Food Safety Authority NFSA, the water filtration process is overseen by three companies outside of Egypt including BRITA. Guests can now enjoy fresh, clean, local water in refillable, sealed glass bottles.

Inclusive Travel Experiences
Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna has been expanding its sustainability initiatives to encourage diversity and inclusion. The resort is collaborating with VMV Verein, a German-based association that promotes inclusion and integration through sports activities. The hotel recently sponsored a group trip to El Gouna, where participants with different physical challenges enjoyed a special kitesurfing program. The kitesurfing activity was tailored for the specific needs of each person, providing them with a sense of ultimate freedom on the water. The success of the program was measured by the happy smiles of the participants.

Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna, has implemented a range of initiatives to ensure that all guests including those with disabilities can enjoy a comfortable and inclusive stay. Wheelchair accessible rooms equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, easy access within the property and around the grounds and an extensive range of rental equipment are all designed to accommodate guests with diverse needs, fostering an environment of inclusivity and equality.

Onsite Organic Garden
Another proud feature of the resort is the establishment of its own organic garden where fresh, flavourful produce is cultivated for the hotel’s culinary offerings. The organic seaside vegetable and herb garden provides guests with delicious locally sourced produce and also contributes to a greener and sustainable future.
