Metaverse – A Sustainable First for the Dutch Hotel Industry

Flying in and out of Amsterdam for a hotel site inspection is no longer acceptable in this era of sustinability. With Metaverse from RendezVerse, Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre has a sustainable first. This high-tech tool allows a potential customer to explore the hotel from anywhere in the world, without having to travel.

The system is very simple: the customer uses a Virtual Reality headset, similar in size to ski goggles, and connects to Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre via the internet. From Amsterdam, this tool literally gives the customer a perfect picture of what the hotel has to offer. The customer can virtually move through the hotel by means of two joysticks that are linked to the headset. At the same time, the customer hears the hotelier speak, giving the feeling of really being in Amsterdam and enabling a personal approach to virtual reality.

This new initiative saves many unnecessary flight movements and therefore CO2 emissions. Due to the extensive possibilities of Metaverse, the number of flight movements for an event planner can be further reduced. The hotel already calculates the CO2 footprint for a meeting, including all associated travel. In line with Mövenpick’s stance on sustainability, the hotel is fully committed to CO2 neutral meetings and the use of Metaverse is an important part of this goal.
