Meetings and events are an important part of the Hyatt Place Amsterdam Airport’s operations. The hotel’s Meeting with a Purpose package uses carbon calculation tools to measure a meeting’s CO2 emissions. Working with profit-for-purpose organization South Pole, carbon offsets are then generated and 1% of the total meeting’s revenue is invested in the Kariba Forest Protection Project.
The Kariba project protects almost 785,000 hectares of forests on the southern shores of Lake Kariba near the Zimbabwe-Zambia border. At the same time, it equips the local communities with necessary resources and skills to protect their future and the future of the planet. Conservation farming plays a major role in the project, helping to eradicate poverty, aid food security, empower women and help communities adapt to global warming.
