Mövenpick Resort Sharm el Sheikh Expands Organic Farm

The onsite organic farm & garden at Mövenpick Resort Sharm el Sheikhin Egypt, remains an ongoing fruitful green initiative that has increased in size over the past year. The resort has signed a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture to expand the organic garden, which now covers more than 2,232 square metres and features fruit trees, vegetables, herbs and flowers.

Use Only Reef Safe Sunscreens at Hamanasi

Green Globe certified Hamanasi will no longer sell and permit guests to use sunscreens that are not safe for the reef. Pollution threatens coral reefs worldwide, from the Great Barrier Reef, to the Red Sea to the Belize Barrier Reef. Much of the pollution comes directly from the sunscreen that divers, snorkelers and swimmers use to enjoy those very same reefs! The chemicals in many sunscreens sicken and kill reefs and marine species, and we must stop bringing those chemicals to the reef we love.

Trinco Blu by Cinnamon: Community Initiatives That Matter

With retro interiors and plush comforts to make you feel right at home, Trinco Blu by Cinnamon is located in the heart of the deep blue of Sri Lanka’s east coast - the best place in Sri Lanka to spot dolphins and blue whales and recently recertified with a Green Globe compliance score of 86%. The resort has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce energy use. Guest rooms are fitted with Energy Management Systems and LED bulbs (90%) or CFL bulbs. Solar heaters are utilized for hot water heating in all guest rooms and the kitchen. The majority of air conditioning units are inverter type AC units (82%) and old units will continually be replaced with the latest inverter models.
