The Caribbean Tourism COVID-19 Task Force which includes CHTA, launched health and safety guidelines to guide the reopening of the tourism industry in the region to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The guidelines address the core protocols required within four key tourism sub-sectors – ground transportation; accommodation; food and beverage operations; and sites and attractions.

Sustainability Becomes an Ode to Nature at La Grée des Landes, Éco-Hôtel Spa Yves Rocher

Green Globe recently recertified La Grée des Landes, Éco-Hôtel Spa Yves Rocher
in France for the eighth consecutive year. First opened in April 2009, the Yves Rocher Éco-Hôtel & Spa is permeated with eco-friendly components and lies nestled amongst schist, trees, plants and bird life. Jacques Roche, General Manager at the Éco-Hôtel said " The Yves Rocher Éco-Hôtel & Spa was originally conceived as a meaningful place! Meaningful since it respects the environment. Indeed, La Grée des Landes was designed to demonstrate that we can develop a place devoted to well-being in a different, more sustainable way as an ode to Nature rather than simply taking without giving back."

Green Globe Certification Awarded to Valsana Hotel & Appartements in Switzerland

Green Globe has awarded Valsana Hotel & Appartements its inaugural certification with the property receiving an outstanding high compliance score of 93%. The architecture and interior design are an interpretation of the forest and surrounding nature while the latest technological innovations are utilized to minimise the hotel’s impact on the environment. Michael & Stephanie Lehnort, General Managers at Valsana said, “Sustainability is a huge part of our daily business at Valsana Hotel & Appartements - we are always looking for sustainable product-alternatives and options to further improve. The Green Globe Certification is a big and important step in the process, and we are now even keener to work hard and find ways to further protect the beautiful environment we live in."

Tourists will be able to offset the carbon footprint of their trips and support a green economy in Costa Rica

Costa Rica will encourage tourists to offset the carbon footprint generated in air flights and land travel in order to facilitate the raising of financial resources for the Payment of Environmental Services Program (PSA), thanks to the agreement signed by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and the National Forest Financing Fund (Fonafifo).
