UNWTO - The Safe Restart Of Tourism Is Possible

Between January and May, the sudden and rapid fall in tourist arrivals cost an estimated $320 billion. That’s three times greater than the impact of the Great Recession of 2007-2009 on our. The re-opening of borders to tourism is a welcome relief to millions who depend on our sector. But this alone is not enough, especially in view of recent announcements and measures, which seem further and further away from the international coordination that UNWTO has been calling for since the pandemic erupted.

Ambassade Hotel Wins Top Netherlands Award

The Ambassade Hotel is comprised of ten 17th century canal-side mansions that are part of the famous Canal Belt in Amsterdam, a UNESCO World heritage site. Ambassade Hotel is currently working on the 9 Streets Area Project run by the Municipality of Amsterdam to better manage waste in the City. One of the aims of the project is to reduce waste from 6.321 tonnes to 1.770 tonnes per year and increase separation percentages from 12% to 75% within 5 years. It is hoped the quality of raw, recycled material will improve with these communal actions.
