The Palms Hotel & Spa: Sustainable Luxury in the Heart of Miami Beach

The Palms Hotel & Spa, a family owned and operated Miami Beach resort, has been dedicated to sustainable tourism for over 10 years and has recently achieved 100% of Green Globe’s compliance criteria. This exceptional score places The Palms Hotel & Spa in the very elite of travel and tourism businesses seeking to protect and preserve the ecology and prosperity of their destination.

Underpinning the hotel’s sustainability efforts is their Inspired by Nature Program which sets the standards and provides the guidelines to make operations as eco-friendly as possible, while minimizing impact on the environment, both locally and globally. Inspired by Nature is a collaboration between the owners, employees, guests, suppliers, and business partners, and is evolving daily to find greener solutions wherever possible.

Since The Palms Hotel & Spa’s first Green Globe certification in 2022, new initiatives have included the development and launch of their experiential packages Culture Crusaders, The Wild Side and History & Heritage. These packages introduce guests to local culture, history and nature, while supporting community and environmental organizations related to the experiences offered.

As an active member of their community, The Palms Hotel & Spa has raised over $10,000 in the last year alone, through their Do Good Feel Good package, which benefits local environmental groups such as: Surfrider Miami, Coral Restoration Foundation and Save the Manatee. The hotel has also become a member of Beyond Green, to further boost collaboration among like-minded hoteliers, learn more about best practices and further highlight their sustainability efforts amongst travelers.

The Palms Hotel & Spa’s in-house efforts are focusing on reducing plastic pollution and saving resources. Work continues toward the goal of 100% single-use plastic free operations, along with Proud Source, the locally bottled spring water in aluminium bottles offered throughout the property, and Vero water in glass bottles served to restaurant patrons. A fully disposable plastic-free mini bar has also been introduced, while FSC certified wooden keys now replace plastic cards.
