A Low-Carbon Hotel, is the First Property in the Tibet Province of China awarded the Prestigious Green Globe Certification

Songtsam Basomtso Linka is the 15th and largest property of the award winning collection of luxury boutique hotels and lodges in the Tibet and Yunnan Provinces of China and is Songtsam’s first low-carbon property. Songtsam’s policy of hiring local employees (at least 120 jobs for villagers from the local community) contributes to the common prosperity of the region as well as the hotel itself. Songtsam Basomtso Linka will also give 5% of the property’s operating income to the adjacent Jieba village every year. This approach ensures that local people benefit from tourism, promoting economic growth and reducing social inequalities.

The retreat’s buildings are Tibetan stone-houses in the Kham style, which combine traditional architecture and construction materials from the region.
