 Beach and Mangrove Cleaning
Twice a month, Royalton Riviera Cancun management and staff actively engage in beach and mangrove cleanup activities, which are located adjacent to the property. Through these initiatives, the resort aims to foster awareness among staff, suppliers, visitors, and guests regarding their sustainability policy, which is wholeheartedly committed to preserving precious resources and minimizing impact on the environment. On average, the clean ups successfully collect between 40 to 60 kg of inorganic waste, encompassing plastics, cans, paper, wrappers, cigarette butts, and more. These proactive efforts have led to the development of targeted campaigns directed at the resort’s suppliers, encouraging them to join in safeguarding natural resources.

Earth Hour Participation
Each year in March, Royalton Riviera Cancun enthusiastically participates in the global Earth Hour movement. Through a range of engaging activities such as contests, reforestations, and environmental education initiatives, the resort actively involves hosts and guests in a day filled with distinctive and commemorative experiences centered around environmental protection. The resort’s collective efforts aim to increase awareness about climate change and the importance of caring for their cherished tourist destination, leaving a lasting impression on guests, hosts, and their families.

Recycling
At Royalton Riviera Cancun, waste generation is an everyday occurrence, encompassing both organic and inorganic materials. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to ensure proper waste management, adhering directly to local and national regulations. To facilitate and optimize waste recycling, the resort implements strategies that include conveniently placed Green Points for waste separation in easily accessible areas for each department. Furthermore, through ongoing training sessions with dedicated hosts, the resort promotes awareness and understanding of effective waste management practices, thereby contributing to the efficient utilization of waste based on its type and classification.

Royalton Riviera Cancun was first certified by Green Globe in 2016. The latest recertification recorded a compliance score of 94% against the Green Globe Standard.
