Now, MHR are proud to present Mövenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah’s achievements as a Green Globe Certified Hotel since 2017.
In its role as a leading worldwide chain, MHR is committed to environmental protection that ensures reduction of undesirable impacts, and careful use of limited resources. Within its Environmental Policy and commitment to the environment, Mövenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah is continuously focused on the following measures.
The Hotel complies with the local environmental legislation as well as limiting the consumption of natural resources. Wise consumption of water, energy and other resources with efficient use and constant evaluation is greatly assisted by raising the sustainability awareness of employees and guests.
Mövenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah believes that environmentally aware business management is a prerequisite for future business growth. In this year, they want to achieve tangible successes in the following areas:
By the end of 2023, the Hotel achieves a target of 4% saving vs 2021 on electricity, water, diesel and gas consumptions per occupied room.
By end August of 2023, the Hotel improves waste management by reducing garbage/waste collection by 3% compared to 2021.
The Hotel has modified its Purchasing Policy to be in line with sustainability, and sources local, seasonal, and organic food. The Hotel menus do not include any endangered species of fish.
Invasive alien species are one of the major causes of biodiversity loss, the Hotel is committed to protect biodiversity and will continue to identify and ensure the use of local plant species or varieties for landscaping and green areas.
Aspiring to be a role model in their industry, the Hotel uses chemical products that are not harmful to the environment and are certified eco-friendly. Waste management and recycling program are also fundamental to resource management within the Hotel.
The commitment of MHR goes beyond environmental and employer sustainability to also encompass social sustainability. Management and staff of Mövenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah participate in local community associations, charities and provide support to local business in a variety of ways. The Hotel also supports local environmental societies as well as environmental conferences and events such as Earth Hour.
At a humanitarian level, the Hotel contributes to a local orphanage to help children in need as well as management and staff joining blood donation programs and fund raising for social groups.

To protect valued guests, as well as staff, Movenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah has implemented and maintained a health and safety system, which is in-line with the local authority requirements, and international hotel operational standards.
Fire drills are conducted on a regular basis, the fire alarm system is tested and maintained, and standard operating procedures are in place. A minimum of 20% of the hotel work force are trained in First Aid & Fire Fighting to allow a fast response in a medical and emergency crisis.
All the Hotel’s kitchens are certified by Cristal health standards. These international and local standards are followed strictly, to ensure the highest level of food safety and that the work environment is also safe and desirable for guests, employees, suppliers and contractors. Scheduled preventive maintenance is carried out to ensure correct, efficient and proper operation of equipment.
Complete water systems - hot and cold and closed and open loops - are disinfected twice a year to prevent Legionella. Third-party laboratory testing is conducted for Legionella prevention on a quarterly basis, with microbiological tests on monthly basis. To evaluate any associated risks with the Hotel management plan, risk analysis is done for the complete building and all activities.
