The Congress Centrum Alpbach (CCA) celebrates positive news in the field of sustainability this June. The company has been re-certified by Green Globe. The international award shows how successfully Congress Centrum Alpbach is working in the field of resource-oriented management and how promising the sustainability direction of the company is developing.

"A major challenge is the difficult conditions for conference organizers. However, we also accept this as an opportunity, as we try to advise our customers and organizers individually in every respect. This results in the best solutions. With regard to our sustainability goals, it has often been a major task in the past to involve our customers and partners extensively. The key here, however, was – as in all areas – extensive communication. This, in conjunction with the increasing social awareness of sustainability, has now given the topic a much higher priority in all areas," explains CCA Managing Director Thomas Kahn.  

Due to its very special architecture, the CCA meets the highest energy standards. Sustainable electricity, a geothermal system for cooling and heating and a photovoltaic system are just a few examples of the implementation of sustainability by the company. The entire event technology is also state-of-the-art and energy-efficient. This high-quality equipment in combination with the traditional Tyrolean mountain village of Alpbach creates a special symbiosis and offers a very high-quality setting for national and international events.

The Congress Centrum is very proud of its cooperation with Green Globe. According to Kahn, for more than 10 years, the company has been striving to embed sustainable initiatives within events and to design all processes in the company in a resource-saving manner. Green Globe helps to go even deeper and to make the efforts measurable and comparable. Areas are identified that can be further improved and certification requires a very concrete examination of all the details, which are rated independently so all implementation can be verified.

Sustainability is well established at the Congress Centrum Alpbach. Through regular internal workshops, the entire team is intensively involved with the topic, so Congress Centrum can rely on expert advice regarding sustainable solutions. As Kahn says: "The goal is to develop concrete, tailor-made sustainability concepts together with our customers, and we want to focus on close cooperation and intensive exchange from the outset in the planning phase and create even more awareness so even small steps can often have a big effect. This requires individual advice, extensive know-how and well-prepared information. In the future, we also want to take all pillars of sustainability into greater account in all processes, especially the social component as it plays an essential role here. What is needed is the interplay between ecological, economic and social sustainability. In order for the environment to be well, people must also be doing well."
