Green Globe, the world’s leading independent certification for sustainable practices in the hospitality industry has recertified Mövenpick Tower & Suites Doha for the fourth consecutive year. The 5 star hotel achieved a score of 87% against all criteria in the certification, making the property one of only two Green Globe certified hotels in the country.

This certification is part of the hotel’s and the company’s sustainability promise and highlights Mövenpick Tower & Suites Doha’s commitment to the principals of environmental protection and most importantly, reflects the company promise to deliver sustainable practices, as well as to spread awareness about green living.

The certification process requires hotels to address over 300 criteria, ranging from water reduction and controlled energy consumption, to recycling and supporting local cultural initiatives.

One of the key goals of Mövenpick Tower & Suites Doha is to promote and create awareness around sustainability and green-friendly living, and to be viewed by the local community and international guests as environmentally friendly. Creating a culture that promotes recycling and energy conservation throughout daily operations is core to the company’s values which are deeply rooted in the hotel.

Working hand in hand with Averda, the largest environmental solutions provider in MENA, the hotel has saved approximately 54874 kilowatts of energy and 7000 gallons (26,497 liters) of water, due to its sustainable practices.

“It is our continued commitment to maintain an effective environmental management policy for the preservation of a healthy environment for future generations,” commented General Manager Ghada Sadek. “We are proud to be Green Globe certified for four years, and will continue to work closely with Green Globe to improve our efforts and be a driver of sustainability in the region.”

This recertification also recognized the high value of the employees in the hotel. All staff members are encouraged to participate in different training programs and initiatives as well as various projects held in the community. Led by the hotel’s very own Green Team, Mövenpick Tower & Suites Doha regularly partners up with the Qatar Green Building Council and the activities they organize such as No Paper Day, Art from Trash and Earth Hour.
