Vienna House Andel’s Berlin is a 4-star superior hotel that promises an experience of modern style, fresh charm and professional simplicity. The hotel is located in the melting pot of Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg not far from Alexanderplatz.

Green Globe recertified Vienna House Andels Berlin in June for the 9th consecutive year.

First certified in 2011, the hotel has firmly embraced new initiatives and measures over the years enhancing its overall sustainability performance.

Sustainability Plan

The property uses 100% green electricity and has an established Green Team to oversee its sustainability strategy which includes measures such as reducing plastic and waste volume and the use of biodegradable detergents and natural cosmetics. Furthermore, the hotel regularly monitors its carbon footprint, promotes e-transportation services and has banned products linked to unsustainable animal husbandry.

Communication Strategy

New staff receive training during their induction period when they are provided with a manual covering various sustainability topics addressed within each hotel department. Information includes the handling of resources and waste, daily short training courses at the start of work for housekeeping staff, room cleaning protocol for all employees and regular short training courses on all Food and Beverage areas for all employees,

Catering for All Tastes

Food is a key priority at Vienna House Andel’s Berlin. As eco-certified suppliers are preferred , new suppliers are asked to provide certification credentials when first contacted and the utmost care is taken to then taken to ensure certification validity is up to date. In the Skykitchen restaurant regional and seasonal products are used by the chefs while fresh herbs from the hotel’s own Infarm cabinet are used to create dishes at Mavericks restaurant and for events.

To cater for all dining guests, notes on allergens are available at all buffet displays and with all menus. Food and beverage team members are trained accordingly and informed about each ingredient so that they can make alternative suggestions if necessary. Individual dishes that are not on the menu can easily be prepared if guests have specific dietary requirements.

Green Meetings

The hotel aims to make meetings paperless by the end of 2020. Organizers are provided with digital technical solutions instead of printed documents and signage for the conference rooms is electronically communicated instead of using printouts. To assist with green meeting planning, suppliers of recycled materials can be provided to event organizers along with information about eco-friendly means of transportation such as bicycles and e-vehicles.
