The latest initiative of this 5-star resort’s certified environmental care program is the introduction of electric carts to shuttle guests around the expansive beachfront grounds.
These new electrical three-wheelers – locally known as ‘Tuk-Tuks’ – offer passengers a smooth, comfortable ride whilst significantly reducing air and noise pollution. Each of the new vehicles runs on a zero emission electric motor powered by high performance storage batteries. They replace the old gasoline powered fleet. As a result, guests and the local community benefit from improved air quality and significant noise reduction.
The electric cart project reflects the resort’s corporate green philosophy, which focuses on the unity of economic, social and environmental well-being. This commitment to the land and quality of life is expressed in the resort’s integrated, eco-friendly building operations. In addition, its progressive social responsibility practices help strengthening and developing the tourism and travel sector.
At Mövenpick Resort and Spa Karon Beach Phuket numerous standards, procedures and campaigns for reducing energy use and pollution have been established. This includes power efficient lighting, measures to reduce fresh water consumption and modern waste management systems.
