GRENADA (June 24, 2014) – One month after Sir Royston Hopkin, owner of the Caribbean’s premier luxury hideaway was presented with the prestigious Six Star Diamond award by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences (AAHS), he visited their headquarters in Manhattan, NY on Wednesday, June 18, where he was officially presented with the remainder of the award at a dinner in his honor at top Manhattan restaurant Mr. K.

Top Trustee of the AAHS, Vice Chairman and Ambassador to Luxury Travel – Bill Fischer, CEO/Founder of Fischer Travel Enterprises was present to recognize Sir Royston and his resort for their dedication to success and continued reputation for excellence. Joseph Cinque, President of AAHS, James Hayes, Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Office, U.S. Homeland Security and Karen Lynn-Dickson, AAHS International General Manager, were also present to celebrate this significant milestone in the life of Spice Island Beach Resort.

The all-inclusive resort was first presented with the prestigious award by the AAHS at a gala event in Grenada on May 27, 2014. Originally under the impression that Spice would be receiving the Five Star Diamond Award, Sir Royston was pleasantly surprised with the news of a higher honor as he stood to accept the coveted Six Star Diamond Award.

“It is an absolute honor to receive any award from the AAHS, however, learning the resort would be presented with the Six Star Diamond Award was a truly unforgettable moment,” said Sir Royston. “As one of the most credible organizations in the travel industry, recognition from the AAHS undoubtedly reconfirms Spice’s position as a leader in the luxury travel market,” he added.

The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences is an establishment specializing in the reviewing of hotels, resorts, spas, airlines, cruise lines, automobiles, products, restaurants and chefs, and is most notably known for its International Star Diamond Award. The award is the most prestigious honor of true excellence in hospitality, gastronomy, attitude, quality, cleanliness and above all service.

AAHS receives a large number of possible recipients for the award from respectable sources around the world. The selection is then refined by the Board of Trustees and the final evaluation is a visit by an anonymous inspector to review the destination and its services.
