Season’s Greeting from Green Globe CEO, Guido Bauer

Season’s Greeting from Green Globe CEO, Guido Bauer
December 21, 2017 Bradley Cox

As another year comes to a close and a new one arrives, our members around the world will be observing a variety of cultural celebrations to mark this special season. It is a time for reflection on the events that were, and to look forward to the many opportunities that may come. While 2017 has had its share of challenges, there have been many successes along the way. 2017 will be remembered as the “Year of Sustainable Tourism” which was led by the United Nations and supported around the world. This was a watershed moment in history, where travellers, and the communities that welcome them, decided to think a little deeper about their relationship; a symbiosis where experiences can be richer and rewards greater.

For Green Globe, we have continued to welcome new members and, as we grow, continue to understand our role as a voice for change and improvement. We are now at a phase in our journey where many in our membership have reached and surpassed our Gold standard, meaning that for more than five years they have been continuously planning, crafting and delivering better holiday and travel experiences to a growing market of sojourners. For our new members, the chance to learn from these achievements and bring new innovation is in front of them as we pass into the New Year.

Green Globe management, staff and our partnership network around the world see the New Year as a time to make bolder and louder statements about the benefits of a sustainable approach to travel. As we work with all members, we look to engage their regular and new guests in understanding the importance of bringing something valuable to travel and tourism as well as taking something special away.

We have exciting news for 2018 with the revamping of the Green Globe Academy offering new and improved training for our membership as well as the introduction of the updated Green Globe Standard.

Over the past years we have made donations on behalf of our membership and Green Globe to worthy causes. Last year we picked an organization supporting Syrian refugees. As you may be aware, fires have hit close to our home in Los Angeles, California. Many of our fellow residents have been left with nothing but the clothes they were wearing when escaping the fires in Southern California as well as Napa Valley near San Francisco. We feel it is our responsibility as a local business to assist these people in need who have been deeply effected by the devastating fires.

Our head office in Los Angeles will be closed from December 25th to January 1st to give our staff a well-deserved break. We will be back in full strength on Tuesday, January 2nd. In this season, as we celebrate both the giving and receiving of gifts, we also appreciate the value of peace and happiness and, ahead of us, the preservation of the important things along with the invention of new and valuable ideas and actions.

Seasons Greeting from all at Green Globe.
