Regensburg Tourismus GmbH (RTG is the official tourism organization of the city of Regensburg, founded with the aim of promoting the tourism industry in Regensburg on a sustainable basis.

Green Globe recently recertified Regensburg Tourismus for the third consecutive year awarding the organization a magnificent compliance score of 96%.

Sabine Thiele, Managing Director of Regensburg Tourismus said, “We are very pleased to have received Green Globe for the third year in a row. It shows that we set the right accents with our commitment. It is our goal to set a good example and thus motivate our partners and guests to participate. We plan and act at all times for the benefit of all RTG interest groups.”

The marinaforum has won accolades for its sustainable architectural design.

The organization has won several sustainability awards and categories in the past two years, recognition of its ongoing green efforts. Future plans also focus on the promotion of the World Heritage City of Regensberg as a sustainable tourist destination.

In 2019, RTG received the coveted, international BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Assessment Method) certificate with an outstanding rating of “very good” in the building and operations category. The award is testament of the various measures undertaken by RTG that promote sustainable tourism within the city.

Last year, RTG was also awarded the ADAC Special Bavarian Tourism Prize for Sustainability for its holistic sustainability concept as a MICE destination in Regensburg. In the MICE segment, RTG campaigns for green meetings and eco-friendly events by adhering to strict environmentally friendly operational standards. Furthermore, the design of marinaforum Regensburg has earned the event and conference center a first-class reputation for its sustainable construction.

In mid-September this year, RTG collaborated with all tourism businesses in the city to work on a broad-based sustainability initiative. By 2022, Regensberg aims to be certified as a sustainable tourism destination by TourCert, an organization specializing in certification in the tourism industry in Germany.

RTG has also launched a brand new website as part of its extensive campaign to develop sustainable tourism in Regensburg. Currently, it is in German only but will be delivered in other languages in due course.
