The Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport has taken an important step in the area of sustainability. The hotel was re-certified by Green Globe in early September. The award is another success in the area of resource-oriented economics and proof of the continuous work that the hotel is investing in this area.
Last year’s biggest challenge for Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport was plastic reduction, as Simona Pasqualin, Executive Assistant Manager of Sales and Marketing, explains: “As part of the Planet21 initiative of AccorHotels, we are very committed to the mission to reduce plastic throughout the hotel. For example, plastic straws are no longer used in the bar and restaurant. For the employee drinks, we switched from plastic bottles to glass bottles. We have also sensitized our suppliers so that, for example, the laundry has no longer wrapped the laundry carts in plastic wrap for some time, but reusable straps have been used. Since there are not yet satisfactory alternatives in all areas,
According to Pasqualin, Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport is particularly proud of the success of the Mövenpick campaign ” Kilo of Kindness ” in the run-up to the International Day of the United Nations. Together with all German Mövenpick hotels, the hotel has collected clothing that has been donated to the German Red Cross. The action was a complete success: the Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport came to 410.8 kg of clothing.
In particular, Pasqualin sees changes in the cooperation with Green Globe and the Green Globe membership among the employees. Through years of sustainability activities, all employees are aware of the topic and everyone is working together on new ideas that contribute to our sustainability goals.
Among other things, the focus of the hotel this year is on the gastronomic area, says Pasqualin: “In our gastronomic areas, we want to focus even more on sustainability. We regularly screen our food and beverage offerings and focus on regional products as well as on food and beverages with Fairtrade seal. Other key aspects are our social responsibility with a special focus on education and training and the reduction of plastics. “
The goals of the Mövepick Hotel Stuttgart Airport show that the hotel is constantly setting new challenges. The creative diet and innovation are combined with the experience of already implemented sustainability projects. In this way, an optimal basis is created so that the hotel can continue to achieve successes in the area of resource-oriented business in the future and can continue to make an important contribution to sustainability in Stuttgart.
