Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait is situated on a stunning beach with white sand merging into the azure waters of the Persian Gulf. The hotel and resort is just 15 minutes from Kuwait International Airport and designed for both business and leisure travellers with Kuwait’s well-known shopping district of Salmiya in easy reach.

Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait has recently been re-certified and is a Green Globe Gold member, which highlights its long term commitment to sustainability. Since 2011, the hotel and resort has been engaged in several programmes focused on water and electricity conservation, waste reduction and energy efficiency. The overall goal has been the reduction of energy use and greenhouse emissions, and the hotel has installed water saving devices and energy saving light bulbs throughout the property. These initiatives have helped the hotel and resort to reduce its annual electricity consumption by 20% and water consumption by just over 10%.

Ibrahim Elmiligy, Cluster Director of Engineering Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar & Beirut said, “Mövenpick Hotel and Resort Al Bidaa was the first hotel to be certified by Green Globe here in Kuwait. And along with Green Globe Gold membership, our efforts toward sustainability have been rewarded with shortlisting as finalist for the Kuwait Sustainable Energy Excellence Award 2017.”

Acting as Environmental Officer for the property, Director Elmiligy leads the Green Team in its annual participation in Earth Hour, creating awareness around ecological issues and encouraging local community to embrace environmental actions.

Green Team members are very keen to connect to local community. Thomas Emmanuel, F&B Director at Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait in cooperation with Doha Heyba from the Marketing Department have established a ‘Healthy Snacks’ program at The Lycee Francais du Kowait. The program teaches and encourages student to prepare and enjoy snacks they can make themselves from wholesome ingredients.

Local businesses have also been engaged by the hotel to work toward green outcomes for Kuwait. The Marasi Company has partnered with Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait to take on recycling of paper and cardboard through a daily compaction and pick up service, which is monitored and measured by the Chief of Stewarding.
