Green Globe’s Middle East Partner FARNEK confirmed Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait’s certification with an audit of all resort departments. The audit found that the resort achieved 86% of all applicable criteria, which places the property in Green Globe’s high achiever category.

Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait has positioned itself as one of the most responsible and sustainable resorts in Kuwait. The resort has made major improvements in terms of water and electricity consumption resulting in substantial savings.
“We have implemented a long-term environmental management system to reduce the usage of water and energy by integrating some basic measures such as energy efficient lighting and water saving devices,” Maged Gubr added.
The resort’s green policies have been developed in line with the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Corporate Social Responsibility program. Energy-saving strategies include environmentally friendly LED bulbs, motion sensors and light timers which have been fitted throughout the resort as well as the installation of water saving faucets in all guest rooms and public areas to reduce water consumption. Also, innovative waste reduction programs are in place such as donating oil waste to an oil recycling company that then reuses it to produce soap.
The resort’s sustainability management plan includes regular in-house staff training on sustainable initiatives with each Head of Department undergoing specialized training regarding energy saving. Also, to involve guests in reducing the resort’s footprint its sustainability policy can be viewed online and environmental brochures highlighting saving water and electricity are available in guest bedrooms. Furthermore, Concierge also provides Green information to assist visitors.
