To boost guest participation in making environmentally friendly choices Mövenpick Hotel München-Airport has introduced rental bicycles for fun and fitness.
Mövenpick Hotel München-Airport’s Human Resource Manager Sabine Frank said, “We are proud and delighted with the excellent result of the Green Globe Re-Certification. As one of our newest reforms we are offering bikes for hire to our guests. If guests decide to discover the surrounding area we are now able to offer another alternative to cars and the public transport system.”
The popularity of cycling in Germany can be attributed to good infrastructure, a bicycle-friendly environment and the attraction of improving one’s health and wellbeing. The hotel also presents a number of other simple measures that prompt guests to make environmentally responsible decisions during their stay. Guests can choose dishes prepared from organic local and seasonal produce that in turn supports the local economy and reduces transportation emissions. And through its Towel Reuse Program unnecessary laundering is avoided reducing overall energy and water consumption.
The temperature in hotel rooms is also adapted in accordance with external temperatures so that electricity usage is minimized. And the use of energy saving light bulbs contributes toward saving electricity in the hotel. Mövenpick Hotel München-Airport provides ECO branded products in guest bathrooms eliminating wastage by discouraging the use of individually packaged toiletries. A stringent recycling program is in place where all waste is sorted into differentiated categories and guests are urged to participate in this.
