Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach is situated in Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Residence close to the Arabian Gulf. The chic and contemporary 5-star hotel is located on The Walk, close to ‘The Beach’ mall, which features beachfront shops, restaurants and the UAE’s first outdoor cinema.

Green Globe recently recertified Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach for the eighth year awarding the hotel an outstanding compliance score of 89%.

Over the past year, Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach improved on its key targets to reduce water and energy consumption as well as decrease its GHG emissions. Electricity savings were 41.6% compared to 2019 and water conservation increased to 69.2% compared to 2019 figures. There was a reduction in carbon emissions of 57.1% as compared to 2019.

Effective Resource Management

Best practices in energy management include the use of a BMS to control and regulate temperatures of the entire air conditioning system. In addition, motion sensors are installed in public toilets and BOH corridors while LED lights are utilized in all guest rooms, corridors, restaurants and banquet rooms.

Various water saving devices are utilized throughout the property. Low flow faucets/ showerheads and dual flush toilets are installed in guest bathrooms while motion sensors are fitted on wash basins in the spa, public bathrooms and staff locker rooms.

By working together, hotel departments and management successfully achieve positive sustainable outcomes. Both energy and water consumption are monitored on a daily and monthly basis. Daily monitoring allows Engineering staff to detect any unusual increases in usage and repairs made immediately. Furthermore, as part of the Preventative Maintenance Program, it is mandatory for Housekeeping staff to report any water leakages in guest bathrooms which in turn saves water and keeps maintenance costs down.

A Touch of Nature

Green areas at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach have been carefully planned to suit the climate and environment. The second-floor garden area provides a relaxing space which helps insulate and cool the building. Native plants requiring minimal watering feature in the garden, in the restaurant and lobby areas with water use controlled by timers and a drip irrigation system. Recently, artificial grass was laid in the garden to reduce watering needs and maintenance costs.

CO2 Emissions Plan

Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach has been offsetting its CO2 emissions from business travel for several years. The property remains committed to a long-term five-year action plan to reduce its carbon emissions in the future.
