Green Globe recently recertified Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments Bur Dubai awarding the hotel a notable compliance score of 87%. The property was first certified in 2012 and has been a Green Globe member for eight years.

Fabien Chesnais, Cluster General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments Bur Dubai said, “On behalf of my team, I would like to thank Green Globe for certifying Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai once again. As Cluster General Manager of the hotel, I always make sure that our hotel’s Green Team is executing our active Sustainability Management Plan.”

Extensive renovations were carried out in all 256 guest rooms from May to September 2019. The entire hotel team supervised major changes in rooms that comply with the highest standards of Green Globe sustainability criteria.

New Guest Room Management Systems (GRMS) and multi-language winter and summer thermostat systems were installed to control lighting, heating/cooling and electrical appliances in the rooms. All light bulbs were replaced with LED bulbs in rooms and corridors, and Fan Coil Units (FCU) replaced to improve operational efficiency. Electric car charging stations were also established in parking bays to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and decrease GHG emissions.

Guest room bathrooms were fitted with water saving devices and new dual flush toilet systems to reduce water consumption.

Over the past year, considerable efforts have been made to minimize environmental impacts including the replacement of printed menus with on-line menus and the promotion of hybrid taxi services to all guests. Waste to landfill volume has been reduced though measures such as comprehensive recycling initiatives, the banning of Styrofoam products, digital check-ins and the reuse of retired linen as dusters and mops for cleaning purposes.

“All these measures are in place for the benefit of our environment and to ensure that our guests are truly staying in a green hotel,” concluded Fabien Chesnais.
