GRENADA (22 June 2015) – Calabash Grenada will, once again, close during August and September to extensively upgrade the resort. The project will bring the standards at the award winning five-star resort to an increased level of luxury and improve its facilities dramatically.

The thirty-suite resort, which also features five top end villas, attracts high-end travellers due to its reputation for combining five star service and luxury within a relaxed and intimate environment.

Calabash Grenada will close from the 19th of July to the 3rd of October 2015 in order to renovate several areas around the 27-acre property, including it’s Junior Suite and One Bedroom Superior Suite categories which will be upgraded, benefitting from new Italian furniture and refurbished bathrooms.

In addition, the resort’s management team announces the construction of the much-anticipated Wellness Centre. Calabash’s new Wellness Centre will house a multi treatment room spa, fitness suite, yoga pavilion, juice bar, Zen garden and relaxation pool.

“We have been investing heavily in the resort for the past 20 years, but this year we are creating something extremely special. Standards all over the world are extremely high and so we want to make sure that Calabash is constantly pushing forward to stand with the best resorts in the world,” states Adele Garbutt of the owning family and also one of the resort’s Directors.

Calabash has always considered the environment in all decision-making processes, and this upgrade project is no exception, with energy efficiency and water conservation being a major priority.

Throughout the property energy efficient air conditioning units will continue to be fitted and there are plans to complete the resort’s existing solar power project. In addition the resort will upgrade its chiller and freezer system and water treatment facilities in order to recycle water in the gardens.

“Visitors come to Grenada because of its pure and beautiful surroundings, so it is our duty to constantly find ways to reduce our impact on the environment and to preserve our island’s natural beauty.” remarks Adele Garbutt, on the subject.

The upgrade project is due to be complete by the 3rd of October 2015.
