Summer is coming to a close and for those of you with families, this time of year means making preparations for the new term ahead. For us at Spice Island Beach Resort, our focus will be on laying the groundwork for the next era in luxury hospitality.

Although we have been ranked by TripAdvisor reviewers as the # 1 property in the Caribbean, along with numerous other accolades received, we continue to act on the recommendations from our valued guests. My vision is to run a unique boutique resort which can compete with the best worldwide.

It is with this in mind that we are embarking on our latest renovation eight years after our major re-build. The feedback received thus far from those with whom we have shared the news, has been very encouraging.

Our architects have captured my vision perfectly in the new design. We hope you will share our excitement as you preview the images of our new resort. Of course, our wish is that you will come back to see it in person!

Chairman, Spice Island Beach Resort

The Caribbean’s #1 rated hotel according to TripAdvisor reviewers, Grenada’s five-star Spice Island Beach Resort is embarking on a
multi-million dollar renovation.

While we continue to receive the industry’s top distinctions and honors, our unwavering commitment to the highest quality service and accommodations drives us to push forward in order to keep our product ahead of contemporary trends,” said Sir Royston O. Hopkin KCMG, Spice Island Beach Resort’s owner and chairman.

The resort will be closed from Sept 2-21, 2013 in order to complete construction in strategic areas including an upgraded porte-cochère featuring contemporary pavers as well as redesigned public spaces throughout the entire property.

The lobby/reception and Courtyard area will benefit from a complete redesign including a brand new façade featuring wall definitions and trimmings, chic lighting and contemporary aesthetics accented by a fresh combination of colors. The Sea & Surf Restaurant – a popular setting for causal lunches and evening entertainment – will be expanded with two extended decks, allowing for more seating and an enhanced dance floor.

Furniture throughout all restaurants and public areas will be replaced, and a dedicated concierge area will be added to the lobby area for guests’ convenience, while the business centre will be relocated to a dedicated location.

The full service Janissa’s Spa will be redesigned and will feature a separate hair salon, a brand new manicure and pedicure facility, a new indoor couples massage room and sauna area complete with double outdoor showers. The spa’s outer deck will be transformed into a relaxation area to provide a tranquil ambiance to aid in guests’ relaxation.

Enhancing the contemporary look and feel of the resort’s guestrooms, select indoor and outdoor furniture and fixtures will be replaced. The addition of patio fans will help sunbathers keep cool on warm days, while upgraded Dedon chaise lounges in the garden area of Sea Grape Beach Suites will ensure visitors unwind in comfort and style.

All construction will be completed by September 21 and the upgrade of soft furnishings will be completed by October 31, 2013
