Personal Wellbeing should never compromise environmental wellbeing: this is the guiding principle of Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda, a 5 stars Luxury eco-resort located in Gargnano, inside an 11 hectares natural park. Everything, from design to energy consumption, was conceptualized and fashioned respecting the environment.
Not only is the architecture perfectly integrated in the surrounding landscape but a real “power plant” has been implemented behind the Resort for the production of electrical energy, heating and cooling, consisting of a biomass plant, a micro-turbines cogeneration plant, and photovoltaic panels. On an overall, Lefay’s total CO emissions is reduced of 1,130 tons per year, furthermore, in 2014 the Resort’s management has decided to compensate the residual CO2 emissions of all its activities, inviting guests and workers’ travel to purchase CERs credits, certified and recognised to be in compliance with the Kyoto Protocol.
Moreover, a water consumption monitoring system is checking the activity on a monthly basis. Over 30 counters placed in various areas of the Resort analyse in detail the real consumption made by a specific area and find suitable improvements when needed.
Above all, at Lefay human resources are considered a highly strategic asset. For this reason, the Resort pays great attention to the selection and personal growth of its members, heavily investing on staff training.
Finally, in 2011 Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda was the first wellness facility in Italy to sign a voluntary agreement for the promotion of common projects that aim to define a management system of CO2 emissions specifically for the tourism sector. Since 2014 Lefay annually publishes a “Sustainability Report”, edited according to GRI criteria and describing all the company’s steps in the field of sustainability setting further environmental and social sustainability targets for the future.
