Green Globe announces re-certification of Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Over the past few years this city lifestyle destination has demonstrated leadership and innovation in the fields of operational efficiency and corporate responsibility on multiple levels. In line with the Jumeirah Group philosophy, this property is committed to continuously improve sustainability efforts, placing social and environmental values at the center of all actions.
“I am extremely proud of our achievements in 2012, given the support of each and every colleague, improving our score to 90%,” said Grant Ruddiman, General Manager at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers. “The Green Globe Program ensures that we implement and maintain a rigorous process framework, dove-tailing with our master strategy of continuous growth and improvement, whilst ensuring our commitment to the environment and sustainability.”
A long term Sustainability Management System is in effect at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers, and the property has its own program for Going Green. Across the hotel many green initiatives have been implemented, such as the installation of motion sensors to automatically switch off lights and set back air conditioners at set temperatures. All guest rooms are equipped with energy efficient compact fluorescent lamps, and the operational hours of external water features and building lights have been reduced. The purchasing policy favors local and fair trade services and environmentally-friendly products, with packaging being reduced to a minimum. Jumeirah Emirates Towers is dedicated to improve the lives of the local community and is involved in broader community investment activities. The Jumeirah Foundation was established to support a range of community welfare and educational programs, guests staying at Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts also have the opportunity to contribute to the charity.
Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, said, “We are extremely pleased to award re-certification to Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai. With the increased number of Dubai’s green infrastructure projects yielding positive economic benefits, the ‘Dubai Green Economy Partnership’ program will strengthen sustainability guidelines that can reduce carbon emissions, increase energy efficiency and encourage water conservation.”
