Hannover Congress Center takes home regional CSR Award
December 11, 2013 Arton Kabashi

Top performing Green Globe member, the Hannover Congress Center (HCC), in Hannover, Germany, took home this year’s regional CSR Award for their outstanding sustainability concept. This award is handed out by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ GmbH), Pro Hannover Region, and the regional investment bank association (NBank), to celebrate outstanding responsible business practices.

The judges were impressed by the manner in which the HCC has clearly recognised that a fully integrated sustainability program must do more than just improve performance of the business. Considerable efforts have been made to educate staff and reach out into the wider community, creating a venue clearly dedicated to both, personal responsibility and informing, empowering and improving its surrounding environment. HCC’s involvement and great support of the ‘Special Olympics’ was highlighted during the ceremony.

For years, the HCC has demonstrated a firm commitment to meet the highest international standards in regards to the environment, conservation and corporate social responsibility. This ‘Cultural Monument of National Importance’ integrated the philosophy of sustainability at all levels, making it the core of the company’s corporate strategy.

“We are delighted about this prestigious recognition,” commented Joachim König, Director at the HCC. “This award is very special, as it represents an honor from businesses in our market. It shows that we are on the right track with our approach. Our team members really live sustainability, and it is our goal to continuously improve our efforts to set an example for the entire industry.”
