German National Tourist Board operates the GTM Germany Travel Mart™ as a green meeting

The 40th GTM Germany Travel Mart™ has been hosted in Bremen (North Germany) from 11 to 13 May 2014.
The GTM Germany Travel Mart™ is a high-calibre forum at which German providers can meet key buyers from the international travel industry.

This highly efficient platform for buying and selling also presents the latest news and trends in Germany’s incoming tourism industry to selected international journalists, whose reports then generate additional impetus in the German travel market.

Sustainable Event Management
Protecting the environment, curbing CO2 emissions and acting on climate change – people are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability for our society’s future. The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) and its partners have made sustainability a key element in their organization of the GTM Germany Travel Mart™.

Travel and Accommodation
Delegates are encouraged to travel to and from the event by train, thereby drastically reducing the amount of individual journeys made.

All Deutsche Bahn rail trips with the Umwelt Plus event ticket are carbon neutral.
Most GTM hotels are conveniently situated with good public transport connections.
The invitation process is completely electronic.

Print Media and Advertising Materials
All information and services related to the GTM Germany Travel Mart™ can be accessed online and are now only provided electronically.

The paper used for name badges is sourced from FSC-certified forests.

Exhibition Stands and Conference Equipment
Contractors are selected based on a list of criteria for sustainable exhibition-stand construction.

Materials and components are re-used multiple times.
Eco-friendly building materials are used wherever possible. All facilities have disabled access.

The product range includes foods that are certified organic and fair trade (organic bakeries and organic vegetable stand).
Preference is given to regional and seasonal products.

GreenNote Seal of Approval
In connection with GTM 2014, GNTB has been awarded the GreenNote seal of approval by the competency network in recognition of the particular focus on conservation of resources in the organization of the event.
