Green Globe Workshop for Jumeirah in LA, California

Green Globe Workshop for Jumeirah in LA, California
May 4, 2016 Bradley Cox

Sarah Saha, Sustainability Project Leader at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE, recently attended training at Green Globe’s head office in Los Angeles. Working with the Green Globe team, Sarah learned how Jumeirah can better comply to Green Globe’s Standard for Sustainable Travel & Tourism, and gathered an in-depth understanding of the policies and procedures for successfully completing certification. Green Globe is the exclusive sustainability certification for the Jumeirah Group and its world wide collection of hotels and resorts.

Completing the training, Sarah said, “The week spent with Green Globe in LA gave me a much fuller appreciation of how Madinat Jumeirah and our many Jumeirah properties world wide can better comply with the sustainability indicators of each criteria. While Jumeirah has successfully certified almost all our hotels and resorts, we can now explore higher levels of compliance, and continuously improve our sustainable management practices.”

While in LA, Sarah was also introduced to some of California’s low-carbon lifestyle activities, including bicycling the famous beach trails along the Pacific Ocean.

For those members not able to travel to our head office, please see our website for training course information. Green Globe is encouraging members globally to undertake more training on our Standard as well as the procedures for certification. We believe this greater knowledge will not only lead to better compliance scores, but more importantly help protect precious tourism destinations.
