Green Globe awarded Hotel Plesnik its first certification in June 2020.

Hotel Plesnik is located in the heart of the Logar Valley (Logarska dolina) Landscape Park. The Logar Valley is one of the most beautiful Alpine glacial valleys in Europe that extends into the Kamnik-Savinja Alps from the north. The family owned and run boutique hotel is a perfect picturesque destination for leisure seekers, wellness warriors, meetings and special events.

Hotel Plesnik adheres to a comprehensive Sustainability Management Plan with a main focus on preserving the natural wilderness that surrounds the property.

Local Co-operation and Protection of Resources.

The hotel is located in the Logarska valley and is a member of the local Zavod za trajnostni razvoj Logarske doline (Institute for sustainable development of the Logarska valley) which was recently established by the few inhabitants of the valley. The aim of the institute is to protect the cultural and natural heritage in the valley which can become overcrowded in peak periods. The institute cooperates closely with the municipality and other public and private stakeholders and is striving to achieve some legislation changes on a national level to protect the valley more efficiently.

Resource Management Strategies

All tourist facilities in the valley are committed to the sustainable use of resources and utilize biomass heating and wastewater treatment systems. Within the hotel itself, an effective energy management plan is in place. All equipment is energy efficient and 80% of lighting is LED while conference rooms feature large windows that allow natural light to illuminate areas. Charging stations are also available for electric vehicles.

Potable water is sourced from the Ivovec stream, which is located amidst the unspoilt nature of the Logar Valley. To ensure water quality and to protect the health of guests and staff, the property has a HACCP quality system in place. Rainwater is also captured for the Wellness Centre that further saves 50m3 of drinking water per year.

Wellness Initiatives

In 2017, as part of its wellness initiatives, the hotel built a natural outdoor biological pool which is cleaned by microorganisms and plants. The pool needs no chlorine or other chemicals significantly reducing environmental impacts.

Local natural materials such as wood and gravel-stone have been used in renovations at the hotel and are also part of the new barefoot trail that is located behind the hotel. Ten new mini wooden spaces lie next to the trail for tranquil yoga practice and meditation.

Covid-19 Measures have been implemented at Hotel Plesnik to ensure the good health of guests and staff.
