2016 has once again been another successful year for Green Globe and our members worldwide. For the 11th year in a row, Green Globe membership continues to increase with more and more tourism and travel enterprises choosing our sustainability certification.
As is our tradition, we have chosen to donate funds, previously allocated for Christmas cards and gifts, to benefit a worthy cause. This year we have chosen to support the International Rescue Mission, an organization which, among many valuable projects, supports education for young women in Africa. What has drawn us to this organization is their transparency as well as non-political efforts dedicated toward community support. Our Christmas donation this year will fund 20 women to attend school for an entire year.
2017 promises to be an extrodinary year, with the United Nations declaring this year, International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. Green Globe looks forward to joining all members across more than 80 countries to celebrate and demonstrate how sustainable practices are making a world of difference.
I want to take this opportunity to thank our members around the world for your commitment to Green Globe and sustainability as well as our dedicated and hardworking staff.
We are looking forward to working towards a better and more sustainable future with you.
