October 19, 2012, Los Angeles, California – Green Globe announced certification of Le Grand Parc du Puy du Fou in Les Epesses, France. This unique historical theme park has demonstrated corporate social responsibility and environmental preservation for years.

“I am very impressed to see how the green philosophy has grown to be a core value to this business,” said Marion Riviere, Consultant with Francois Tourisme, assisting the theme park in moving towards sustainable management, “It was great to work with such motivated people. They have shown a remarkable commitment to implement sustainability practices on all levels and a great ambition to improve.”

“We are very proud to earn the prestigious Green Globe Certification award,” added Laurent Albert, CEO at Grand Parc du Puy du Fou, “This is a reward for many efforts that also highlights the willingness of park visitors to support the protection of fauna and flora.”

A long-term sustainability management system is in effect at the Grand Parc du Puy du Fou, and energy goals are strictly monitored. Employees benefit from regular training sessions and education on the company’s environmental and sustainability initiatives. The business implemented a comprehensive reuse and recycle policy, and packaging is reduced to a minimum throughout the facility. Local goods, products, and services are given preference, while awareness is actively promoted among suppliers. The theme park supports a variety of local community development projects and provides 3,500 jobs in the region.

Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, commented: “We are delighted to certify the Grand Parc du Puy du Fou in France. Within a rather short period of time, this phenomenal theme park accomplished a milestone with their innovative environmental practices.”

The Grand Parc du Puy du Fou is a historical theme park in the Vendee department of western France and marked its 35th anniversary on June 9, 2012. Over the past 35 years, Le Puy du Fou has become celebrated in France for its amazing historical re-enactments, some involving a cast of thousands. From the Roman Empire, through the invasion of the Vikings, to the Wars of the Vendee fought around the time of the French Revolution, Le Puy du Fou has portrayed them all. Every year the park brings in some 1.5 million visitors, making it the fourth most popular attraction in France.

The park presents 60 spectacular shows per week and houses 4 historical villages, 25 restaurants, and 3 themed hotels. On March 17, 2012 the Thea Classic Award (the Oscar for the theme park industry) was presented to Le Puy du Fou at a ceremony in Los Angeles. The Thea Award is made to theme parks which the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) considers have distinguished themselves.
