Trip Advisor Traveller’s Choice 2013 winner, the Samaya Seminyak Resort in Bali, is dedicated to the preservation of a safe and healthy environment for the island of Bali, its people and visiting guests. This luxury resort implemented a variety of green practices into their daily operations, and all efforts recently achieved Green Globe certification.
“The Samaya Bali and our Green Team, we are enthusiastic about making our hospitality business more environmentally-friendly,” said Mr. Eka Dilaga, Resort Manager. “Sustainable development is essential to all that we do and what we pay for, and our guests fully support the initiatives we have in place. The core values at Samaya Bali include our commitment to conserve resources, preserve natural habitats, prevent pollution, and to act with integrity. Sustainability to us means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Working with Green Globe has helped our team to better understand the benefits of green strategy projects, and we are very proud about reaching this milestone.”
As an innovative community partner, Samaya is leading by example – showing local communities what corporate responsibility should look like. Some of the quality initiatives include working with vendors and partners to reduce the carbon footprint for procurement activities, the installation of an energy-efficient system in all the villas, water reduction notices, offering a “farm to table” approach as a culinary option, in-house composting, being a “Styrofoam-free” environment, and engaging team members through training, tools, and active involvement. The Samaya Bali currently enjoys a high percentage of local village people within its workforce, and brings in local trainees for work experience. With the Green Team and support of management – all initiatives must relate to the mission of Samaya Bali: Sustainable Development!
The Samaya Seminyak works closely with a number of local institutions and community programs, such as an orphanage called Chloe House in Tabanan, by providing living materials, resources, and food. The property supports their local Desa’s Lingkungan, Basangkasa, kehlurahan Seminyak, Kecamatan Kuta with their local programs for the needy and donation of non-used materials. Guests are invited to learn about the rich cultural heritage and participate in complimentary temple tours offered by the property.
