From now on, ADA Cosmetics International’s employees will be driving fully electric cars. The company has invested in BMW’s showpiece, the BMWi3. According to Wilhelm Könning, Managing Director of the cosmetics company, “the number of e-cars being used privately or commercially is still very small, so we wanted to set an example.”
The sleek E-Car, which weighs only 1,200 kg, will be used predominantly for trips on rural roads, making a contribution to the reduction of fine particulates. When fully loaded, the e-car can cover a distance of about 160 kilometers with no noise or CO2 emissions. Thanks to a so-called range extender, the distance can be increased to 300 km, or even to 340 km when using a very efficient driving mode.
After the initial test drive, even critical ADA drivers are excited about the new vehicle. The BMWi3 actually reaches a speed of 100 kmh in a mere 7.2 seconds, thanks to its 170 hp. Engine noise is very low, even at high speeds. “This proves that agile driving and being eco-conscious are absolutely compatible,” says Könning. Könning is convinced that the little sportster will be very popular with his employees. And that is a great benefit because it will promote e-mobility, energy and energy efficiency – in addition to being a significant step in further implementing the company’s own ecological goals. Since 2011, ADA has succeeded in reducing its operational CO2 emissions by 33 percent.
