CERTIFICATION PROCESS: CREDIBILITY AND TRANSPARENCY

Green Globe members that want to become Green Globe Certified have to undergo an independent, third-party, on-site audit by an accredited Green Globe auditor. Most other certifications are based on “self-assessment” and “self-administered” audits which are not conducted by third-party professional auditors who visit and inspect the facilities. Thus, having a compulsory independent, third party audit, conducted on-site manifests the Green Globe Certification as the most credible and trustworthy certification.

GREEN GLOBE MEMBERSHIP RATES: TRANSPARENCY

Green Globe membership rates vary depending on region, location and size of the enterprise and are available on the Green Globe webpage. Other certification companies either have fixed rates like EarthCheck, Green Key Global, Travelife and Viabono or rates that are not communicated openly on their webpage such as Green Key Europe, ISO 14001, Green Leaf and White Star. This provides prospective Green Globe members with more transparency and, therefore, delivers more credibility and trust.

TOOLS AND SUPPORT

Green Globe enables its members to connect and to network. Members are given access to the Green Globe Solution Center, which acts as a social network and an information exchange base amongst Green Globe members and affiliates. The Green Globe Solution Center is also a resource base to inform members about recent sustainability developments and the Green Globe Standard. Additionally, Green Globe offers an e-learning tool – the Green Globe Academy – for all new Green Globe members to enhance their knowledge in sustainability and tutor them in sustainability related topics and in the general Green Globe Standard and Criteria framework. Only EarthCheck and Travelife offer similar systems where members can share information and use online resources that are only available for members.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION

Additionally, Green Globe is represented within other social networks and media channels such as Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube, where Green Globe members can communicate their achievements and innovative ideas to a broader audience. Other Certification companies integrated these tools as well in their marketing activities, Green Globe, however, being represented on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Blogger and via  the Green Globe App  markets its members most extensively.
