Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic: To celebrate Earth Day, Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort recently invited employees and guests to join them in various environmental activities. These activities started early in the day with both hotel employees and guests enthusiastically joining in to clean up the beach . Later, in the ecological garden of the hotel, each attendee planted a tree and in the evening, a coconut festival was organized where coconut-based crafts and dishes were displayed. At dusk, at the main pool of Barceló Bávaro Beach, the Barceló orchestra surprised guests to the rhythm of bachata and merengue.
There were also activities for the youngest guests who were given a brief introduction to the importance of protecting our homes and respecting our surroundings. The children visited the Barceló The Lakes golf course where they experienced Nature first-hand, learned about native birds and had great fun.
As part of the environmental activity program, the hotel held a recycling contest among its employees; winning pieces included functional lamps made from recycled paper, picture frames and vases made from plastic bottles .
Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort has a Green Globe certification for a second consecutive year, a global certification that distinguishes it for its environmentally friendly practices. Adopting efficiency and energy saving programs make it a green, sustainable hotel. It also boasts the international “Blue Flag” recognition for meeting the standards required by the non-governmental, non -profit Foundation for Environmental Education.
