Maya Ubud Resort & Spa was recently re-certified by Green Globe, marking 5 years of continual accreditation. The certification promotes consistent best practices and helps the resort on its journey towards environmental and social sustainability.

This year Maya Ubud Resort & Spa has again attained certification from Green Globe. The certification is awarded following an annual audit that ensures the criteria’s related indicators have been achieved. Green Globe certification criteria are organized into key themes of Sustainable Management, Social/Economic, Cultural Heritage and Environment.

Green Globe congratulates Maya Ubud on its Gold Membership and its very high compliance score of 95%. This exceptional result exemplifies the personal commitment by management and the entire team to continually improve the resort’s sustainable operations.

Romy Anggara, Executive Assistant Manager at the resort said, “We have embarked on a long journey with our sustainability program since we opened, but every action counts towards improving our sustainability performance.”

The resort has focused on a number of environmental issues and made adjustments in various areas including the reduction of fuel consumption by changing the conventional boilers into a heat pump system that produces hot water for the resort. The property has drastically decreased fuel consumption significantly reducing its carbon footprint.

As part of a sustainable product supply program to become more self-sufficient, the 108 room resort grows and harvests herbs and organic vegetables at its own onsite garden. Guests are introduced to the organic garden through unique outdoor cooking classes that take place in the midst of this delightful open space. Freshly picked produce is also used in the restaurants and hotel kitchens.

The resort is actively involved in various community development activities, ranging from purchasing from suppliers adhering to ecological sustainability practices to the contributions made through its Corporate Social Responsibility Program. Maya Ubud Resort & Spa invests generously in educational programs and the development of environmental programs within local schools and colleges.
